Happy Friday everybody! It’s been a little while since we’ve posted a drink recipe, and we used to crank them out pretty regularly. We’re calling this one a Cherry Bourbon Smash, with lime and angostura bitters and it’s coming to you courtesy of my husband. Incidentally, this will be the last drink that I consume for the next month. With my 36th birthday fast approaching, I thought a little detox was well in order after what was, frankly, a pretty indulgent summer. It’s always good to keep ourselves in check, right?! Maybe next month I’ll try to cut out coffee. Ha. Yeah right.
Cherries and bourbon are a relatively common combo, but the addition of lime, ginger beer and bitters really pushes this one over the top and gives it some extra complexity. Cheers!
Random side note – and maybe I’m slow to find out about this, but I’ve been using Ibotta this past week and am loving it. Cherry Bourbon Smash with Lime
Mash the cherries and strain the juice into a glass. (Alternatively, you could just mash the cherries in the shaker if you like the fruit to end up in your drink). Add bourbon, lime juice and ice. Top with ginger beer and add a few drops of angostura bitters. Garnish with a cherry (use fresh or Luxardo).
