The Luxardo 75 cocktail – the merging of a French 75 with the infusion of the splurge-worthy Luxardo cherries – will impress even your most discerning friends. Luxardo Cherry Cocktail - Luxardo 75

Our latest obsession around here is Luxardo cherries. Have you tried these?!? Now, I’ll admit that when I first found out my husband spent over $20 for a jar of maraschino cherries, I may have not been overly enthusiastic. He has this terrible habit of going to the grocery store, paying no attention at all to prices or sales, and just throwing whatever looks shiny/new/interesting into the cart. For this reason, I rarely ask him to swing by the grocery store to pick anything up. He’s dangerous. But then I sometimes think that he does it on purpose, so I won’t ask him to stop at the store for anything. Hmmmm…..

But back to the cherries. The cherries are amazing and add such a luxuriousness to our cocktail creations. They’re particularly fantastic in Aviations. My all-time favorite drink is the French 75 (I’ve done riffs on this cocktail before), so I felt compelled to find some way to incorporate the Luxardos into that cocktail. Here’s the result!

The Luxardo 75

Ingredients

1/2 oz. simple syrup

1/2 oz. Luxardo cherry juice

1 oz. lemon juice

1. 5 oz gin

4 oz. champagne

2 Luxardo maraschino cherries for garnish

Directions

In a shaker, combine simple syrup, Luxardo cherry juice, lemon juice, gin and ice. Shake vigorously. Shake it hard enough that you get the tiny ice crystals that make cocktails extra refreshing.  Strain into coupe or champagne flute and top with champagne. Your Luxardo 75 is ready. Cheers!
