I have a newfound respect for bloggers (particularly those with children) who provide “home tours” for their readers. Steph and I started this blog almost 8 months ago and, since then, there has not been one time when a single room in my home could be considered ‘photo ready’. There are always, always, always, random toys lying around, crumbs on the floor, fingerprints on the windows, etc. Doesn’t matter whether I spend an hour cleaning or eight hours cleaning, something will always be amiss or out of place in every room the kids touch. But do you know what? I’m ok with that. And I’m hoping you will be too. Realizing that there would not be a day in the near future where I would have a perfectly neat home, I finally went ahead and took some pictures of our dining room, just to get some kind of start on this home tour that we’ve been promising. And, yes, if you look closely, you’ll definitely see some things amiss, but that’s life, right?
I love cooking, and having friends and family over for a meal is one of my favorite things. I really love the idea of lingering over a meal, feeling so comfortable that rushing off to the living room after eating seems unnecessary. And so I’ve gone for comfort in the dining room. There are a couple of tutorials in the works that will focus on elements in the dining room. As an example, the sofa that now serves as a settee at our dining table is actually a modified Ektorp slipcovered couch from IKEA. I’ve actually already got one tutorial up – on the table runners – check it out!
So stay tuned – more details on the room coming, but for now, here are some pics!!
