Last month I posted the recipe for what I think is the perfect (adult) summer treat, White Peach Sangria Popsicles. The recipe for the popsicles was based upon and inspired by my absolute favorite summer drink – Peach Sangria. It is party perfection in that the recipe is so simple to multiply and it looks pretty for lack of a better word. Party or not, I always use at least two bottles whenever I make it because it’s just that good and regardless of the party size, it doesn’t last long. This white sangria can be made with white or regular peaches. I typically use white, thus the white peach sangria popsicles, but admittedly used regular peaches this time because they were on sale. White peaches, in my opinion, are still quite sweet, but are a bit lighter in taste. Nevertheless, the sangria was just as good.
White Peach Sangria
Makes 12 servings
2 bottles Savingion Blanc (no need to splurge, I typically use “2 Buck Chuck” from Trader Joes)
1 cup triple sec
1/2 cup frozen lemonade concentrate
1/4 cup sugar
1 lb. peaches, sliced (white or regular)
3/4 cup red, seedless grapes, halved
3/4 cup green, seedless grapes, halved
1 lemon, sliced
4 cups Sprite Zero
In a punch bowl or large pitcher, combine the wine, triple sec, lemonade concentrate, sugar, and fruit. Stir until sugar is dissolved.
Refrigerate for several hours, ideally overnight, to allow flavors to become well incorporated. When ready to serve, add Sprite.
Serve with fruit from sangria.
