DIY Pineapple Thumbprint Art - Kids Project
I’m currently craving a vacation. Instagram and Pinterest continue to rub it in my face that a vacation for me isn’t anywhere in sight. With a new little addition to the family, it’s not in the cards anytime soon anyway. It’s hard enough rallying three kids up for a trip to the grocery store let alone a trip to the beach. So I continue to sulk, scrolling through rude reminders on my social media feeds.

Amid the images of sandy beaches and Palm trees seem to be a surplus of pineapples sponsoring a tropical paradise. I decided to bring a little tropicana into the home with some DIY pineapple thumbprint art. These guys aren’t getting me any closer to the beach, but they sure look cute.
(While this could be a great DIY to do with kids, my boys are often hesitant to get their hands dirty and wouldn’t oblige.)

I used a handful of acrylic paints as the medium, and used some canvas paper to paint on.  I put a bit of each on a plate (a paper plate means zero cleanup) and created new color combinations as I went. In addition to the easy cleanup, I love that with this method of “painting” it was near impossible to mess up. Each “eye” of the pineapple is a thumbprint, and I did the crown by smearing the paint in an upwards motion with my thumb as well. No paintbrush needed.
